Crafty Storage

I've been so inspired by some of the craft rooms being shared over at Crafty Storage lately that I just haven't been able to stop myself from doing some late night organizing!  Luckily my organizing still leads to completing several small projects a night thanks to this not so beautiful pile of misc. unfinished projects...

Last night I saved my Cricut!  I had it right under my work area so that I wouldn't have to go very far to get it out at a moments notice but sadly that didn't work out!  It got burried by all of the other things that surround my feet at my work desk as I get them out and set them down so they can be at arms reach as well!

Here is where my cricut was living,
sadly with stuff piled up around it...

Here are the bags that I hardly ever
use that traded places with it!

.... and now here it is in a nice clean new space where I can actually open the drawers that contain my cartridges!  What a concept!  It definitely not at arms reach anymore but I am hoping to clean off the counter top above it sometime soon so that it can actually sit on the desk.  My hope is to get another set of those drawers from Target to house my Big Shot and all of my dies...

Thanks for stopping by!

Totally 4 Troops Cards

I was hoping to post these pictures last night but some how I got distracted with moving photos from one computer to another and then organizing and uploading to Costco so that I can back them up.  I would up not going to sleep until 1:00 AM only to be woken up by my 8 year old son to go work out at 6:00AM!  That was rough!

Anyways,  I wanted to share the cards that a few friends and I made last Friday for Totally 4 Troops.  We weren't quite as productive as I had originally hoped but we did have a great time!  We finished about 100 cards and have about 50 that just need to be embellished.

I tried to make most of my cards in groups of 6 - 18 in the interest of productivity, but some of the ladies were really great about creating 1 at a time to use up scraps.  We used SU! stamps for all of the sentiments, and we used my older DCWV patterned paper stacks as the background paper.  My goal is to clear out all of my older DCWV stacks from my stash with the endevour!

Happy crafting!

The Paper Player Sketch Challenge #61

Summer is coming to an end I'm finally getting the chaos that is my life under control!  I have so many projects from overthe summer to share with you, but for today I'm going to start with a card that I created while cleaning up my desk this evening.  Earlier this week I happened upon this fabulous blog that inspired my card today!  So here it is, my card for The Paper PlayersSketch Challenge #61
The flower on the card was a make & take that I made at the Scrapbook Expo in Puyallup last month.  I feel terrible that I dont remember what booth it was at:(  I remeber that I felt terrible for them because everyone kept asking about the die for the flowers, which they don't sell, and the point of the make & take was to demonstrate their glitter.  Other supplies: SU! Crumb Cake card stock, SU! Not Quite Navy Cardstock, VersaMark Ink Pad, SU! edge distresser, & SU! lace

Thanks for stopping by,

Such a SMARTIE! Valentine's

Where did the time go?  It feels like just yesterday my husband was headed out of town for work and I was so optimistic about all the extra crafting time I would be able to fit it.... that clearly has not been the case!  Three months later (husband still gone:0( ) I've finally pulled myself together for the kiddos and actually finished a couple of projects for Valentine's Day!

Speaking of my wonderful husband... he bought me Cricut Markers what must have been AT LEAST 3 years and I've always been to afraid to use them!  Thanks to my wonderful broken down printer I was left with no other choice for our Valentine's project this evening....

Didn't love the red marker!  As you can see, it is definitely more pink than red!

Absolutely fabulous!  I couldn't have been more thrilled with the Cricut Markers or my Gypsy!  Way better than if my stinkin' printer was working!  The markers did bleed a little, but I blame that on my frugal ways and the super cheap card stock that I was using (as I always do for the kids projects)!

My completed Smarties valentines for Alden's class.  I used a wonderful video tutorial from  Dawn over at Dawn's Stamping Thoughts, which was absolutely wonderful! Little does that little SMARTIE know that if he wakes up early he'll be coloring in the word SMARTIE on all 24 of these cuties;)

Check out this little SMARTIE that snuck out of her bed and fell asleep on the couch as I was frantically trying to finish up her brothers valentine's!

Card Tech Club Cards - Brayered Embossing Folder

Here are the cards for tomorrow's Card Tech Hostess Club. We'll be using our rubber brayer on texture folders to the colored background on Very Vanilla and Whisper White card stock. I sincerely apologize for the crazy matting on this first card... let's just learn from this that liquid mono is not as for giving as a tape runner!

P.S.  I will be sure to add the card recipe's tomorrow when I'm a little less sleepy from wrapping caramels all day, so be sure to check back!

A Yummy Treat!

Vanilla Caramel Recipe
1 cup butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1 dash of salt
1 cup light corn syrup
1 15 oz. can sweetened condensed milk

Heavily butter bottom and sides 9x13 backing pan.  Melt butter on low.  Add in all other ingredients one at a time until each is thoroughly mixed in.  After all ingredients are added boil on medium until temp reaches 245degrees F.  The temp really does make a huge difference in the consistency and texture when the candy is cooled!  Cool in fridge for at least 1 hour before cutting.  Wrap in squares of wax paper and enjoy!

A not so yummy looking picture of the caramels in progress... about 4 hours of cooking, cooling, cutting and wrapping.
Well worth the wait!
